All topics- Which plan is right for me?
- Launch includes every supported image format. Growth adds PDFs and video; Scale adds more credits. Business combines higher volume with single sign-on. Use the calculator to estimate capacity, or discuss Enterprise for custom volume and private deployment.
- Is single sign-on included?
- Yes, with Business. Our team helps connect your organization’s identity provider. Enterprise identity integration is agreed as part of your deployment.
- Do I need a developer or an API key?
- No. You can upload files, embed watermarks and run detection in the dashboard. For automated workflows, every plan includes the API, webhooks and six official SDKs. Create an API key when you’re ready to connect your application.
- What’s included in the free trial?
- Start a seven-day trial with 200 credits across all supported image, PDF and video formats. No card required. Your personal workspace is ready at signup; the free credit grant is once per new user, not per workspace.
- What happens when the trial ends?
- Processing pauses when your credits run out or seven days pass. You won’t be charged automatically. Subscribe anytime in Billing; your paid allowance starts after payment, and unused trial credits keep their original expiry. Your chosen plan’s format limits apply after upgrading.
- Can I change or cancel my plan?
- Workspace owners can change plans or billing frequency in Billing. Changes start at the next renewal, with no prorated charges. To cancel renewal, select Manage billing. Access continues through the paid period, and files in Etchv storage stay for 30 days after it ends; Enterprise terms are agreed separately.
Credits & billing
All topics- What counts as one credit?
- Watermarking an image costs one credit, whatever its frames, pages or layers. Watermarking a PDF costs one credit per page. Watermarking video costs one credit for every 24 frames, about a second, and a started block counts as a whole one: a 120-frame clip is five credits. Checking any file for a watermark costs one credit.
- Am I charged if no watermark is found?
- Yes. A completed detection uses one credit even when no watermark is found. The charge covers the analysis.
- Do failures, retries or timeouts cost extra?
- Credits for failed jobs are refunded. Automatic retries and downloads of a saved result cost nothing extra. A timeout may leave a job running: resume it or reuse its idempotency key instead of starting a new operation. See request recovery for details.
- Do batches cost more than single files?
- No. Each file in a batch costs the same credits as a single request. Files rejected before processing are not charged, and credits for files that fail are refunded. See batches.
- Do credits roll over? Are there overage fees?
- Unused credits expire at the end of each monthly allocation period. New requests stop when the available balance runs out, with no automatic overage charges. Contact us if you need more capacity.
- Are there API rate limits?
- Yes. Each plan sets how many operations an organization can have in progress at once and how many API requests it can make per minute. Launch runs one call at a time with 20 requests per minute; Growth runs 2 at once with 100; Scale 5 with 300; Business 16 with 1,000. Enterprise limits are set by agreement. A request over a limit returns
429with aRetry-Afterheader and uses no credits; going over the concurrency limit includes a link to upgrade. See rate limits. - How does annual billing work?
- Pay for a year upfront and save 20% compared with monthly billing. Credits are still allocated each month. Select Annual above to see the monthly equivalent and full yearly total. Prices are in USD, before applicable taxes.
Files & watermarking
All topics- Will a logo or text appear on my content?
- No. Etchv adds an invisible watermark to the content. Detect it later to connect a copy to the asset, delivery or generation record you keep.
- Will my files keep their original format?
- Yes, within supported profiles. Etchv retains image animation, TIFF pages, editable Photoshop layers, and selectable text and vectors in PDFs. Video keeps its MP4/MOV container and supported audio. Watermarking changes the file’s bytes and may change its size.
- What file and video limits apply?
- The dashboard accepts files up to 20 MB. Through the API, images can be up to 50 MB and PDFs and videos up to 20 MB. Detection accepts files up to 95 MB, or 64 MB for PDFs. PDFs support up to eight pages. H.264 MP4/MOV video supports up to 240 frames per clip, and fewer at larger frame sizes: 43 frames at 1280 × 720. Check the full image, PDF and video requirements, including pixel limits and decoder compatibility.
- Will the watermark survive cropping or compression?
- Etchv verifies recovery before delivering your watermarked file. Later edits, screenshots or re-encoding can weaken or remove it. Test your distribution workflow; recovery cannot be guaranteed after every transformation.
- Can I trace a copy back to a recipient?
- Give each copy its own delivery reference and save its watermark ID with your recipient record. When you detect the watermark, look up that record. Etchv checks files you submit; it doesn’t search the web. A match supports an investigation, but doesn’t prove who shared a file.
- Can Etchv identify any AI-generated image?
- No. Etchv only detects its own watermarks. To keep track of AI images, watermark them when they are created or sent out, and link each watermark to your records. An unmarked file cannot be classified as AI-generated by checking for an Etchv watermark.
Data & support
All topics- Can we run Etchv on our own infrastructure?
- Yes, through Enterprise, including options for air-gapped environments. Capacity, identity integration, storage, updates and support are agreed with your team. Discuss your deployment or security requirements.
- Can I use GPU processing?
- Yes, on Business and Enterprise. Add
accelerator=gputo any request, or choose GPU in the dashboard. GPU operations use three times the normal credits and watermark typical images and video up to about twice as fast; PDFs, detection and very large files gain less (measured results ). If no GPU is ready, the request runs on CPU at standard credits. Enterprise can also reserve dedicated GPUs or run them in its own deployment. See GPU processing. - Do I need my own storage?
- No. Etchv storage is included in the hosted service and keeps your originals and watermarked results for up to a year while your subscription is active. Trial files are kept for 30 days. You can connect your own bucket for watermarked results; processing still runs on Etchv. Your asset library tracks files in either location.
- How long are my files kept?
- Etchv keeps hosted originals and results for up to a year from the day each was created, while your subscription is active. Trial files are kept for 30 days. If a subscription ends, files stay for 30 more days, and subscribing again in that time restores the year. Results in your bucket follow its retention policy. Asset records remain until deleted, including after a trial ends. Owners and admins can delete assets earlier. See data handling and retention for processing copies and job records; private deployment policies are agreed separately.
- Do I need to include personal information?
- No. Use an opaque asset or delivery reference and keep the recipient mapping in your own system. The watermark contains a digest of your reference data, not the original JSON. A digest is not encryption, so keep sensitive information out of that data.
- Is there an uptime SLA?
- Scale and Business are run to a 99.95% monthly uptime target, and you can follow live status at status.etchv.com . Enterprise agreements can include a contractual 99.95% SLA with service credits, and terms for your own infrastructure are agreed per deployment.
